AbstractIntroduction – the Fundamental Pillars of ULTRA
• TUHH Knowledge flight physics, system identification, development processes & tools
• Use in Teaching „making aircraft visible“ project-based learning (PBL)
• Inter-/national Cooperation collaboration & exchange with university partners
• Aspects of Research „Highly Automated Flight“, flight and systems automation

ULTRA Flight Test Infrastructure
• Test Aircraft and Avionic Concept on Board, on Gound, Concept of Safety Pilot
• Micro Message Bus: Simplify distribution and access to all kind of data, No hard-coded resource map-ping (i.e. H/W addresses, IP addresses…)  Configuration
• Executable Building Block Networks: Simplify common data conversion and data processing tasks, Real-time capable, cross-platform to be used on different operating systems, Scalable, easy to setup / configurable

Research Topics using ULTRA
• SP1-LimitFlight: safe guidance along the flight envelope limits
• SP2-AutoLand: automated landing considering system faults
• SP3-HealthMan: Integrated Vehicle Health Management
• Low-cost Air Data System for UAV Research
• Monitoring of small Electro-Mechanical Actuators

PBL Teaching using ULTRA
• Project-based learning is a dynamic teaching approach in which students actively explore real-world problems and challenges and acquire a deeper knowledge.
• The core idea of project-based learning is that real-world problems capture students' interest and pro-voke serious thinking as the students acquire and apply new knowledge in a problem-solving context
• It emphasizes learning activities that are long-term, interdisciplinary and student-centered. The teacher plays the role of facilitator!
• Working with students to frame worthwhile questions, structuring meaningful tasks, coaching both knowledge development and social skills, carefully assessing what students have learned from the ex-perience.
