Abstract	The Federal Aviation Administration’s definition of a runway incursion is: "any occurrence in the airport runway environment involving an aircraft, vehicle, person, or object on the ground that creates a collision hazard or results in a loss of required separation with an aircraft taking off, intending to take off, landing, or intending to land." This presentation discusses the FAA’s Surface Surveillance group and the projects that they are currently working on that have been designed to reduce the number of runway incursions. The projects that will be reviewed are the Airport Surface Detection Equipment Model 3 (ASDE-3), the Airport Movement Area Safety System (AMASS), Runway Status Lights (RWSL), and the Airport Surface Detection Equipment Model X (ASDE-X).
