AbstractThe presentation gives an overview of selected recent and near future research activities at DLR.

The DinAFlex Project – Handling qualities of flexible passenger aircraft The task of the project DinAFlex is to develop aircraft models considering flexible dynamic effects on handling qualities and assess the handling qualities of flexible aircraft in a full-motion simulator. The presentation gives a short overview on the simulator study that was performed in the DLR full-flight simulator AVES in May 2022.

Single Pilot Operations Activities
The DLR Institute of Flight Systems participates in different projects dealing with Single Pilot Operations. An overview of these projects is presented. In addition, further details of the DLR internal project NICo (Next-Generation Intelligent Cockpit) dealing with the assessment of SPO feasibility and the development of Virtual Co-Pilot functions are presented. Some details of the first exploratory simulator study are described.

Gust Load Alleviation Activities
The usage of new light materials in optimized and highly flexible wings might require active load reduction. The DLR Institute of Flight System investigates new strategies for load reduction in several projects also using feedforward anticipation based on Lidar measurements. The presentation gives a short overview of these activities.
