AbstractAbout the Institution: The Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is one of the youngest universities in Germany as well as one of the most successful. The fundamental principles of the TUHH are unique in Germany; priority is given to research, interdisciplinary studies and innovation. Also central to our approach is a close working relationship with regional industries and, more recently, the achievement of international scale. Frank Thielecke is head of the Institute of Aircraft Systems Engineering which is part of the department of mechanical engineering.

Teaching Activities:
• Fundamentals of Aircraft Systems
• Aircraft Systems I-III
• Design of mechanical Systems
• Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics (with others)
• Reliability of Systems (with others)

Research Activities:
• Multi-disciplinary modelling and simulation of aircraft and its systems
• Demonstration and evaluation of technologies for More-Electric-Aircraft
e.g new actuation systems, sensors, integrated modular avionics
• Concepts and methods for health monitoring and design-for-diagnosability
• Systems and functions for more autonomous aircrafts (ULTRA project)
• Design methods to handle the ever increasing complexity of flight systems
• Applications in the field of safety critical and embedded systems
