AbstractThis presentation will cover recent progress in the areas of adaptive flight control and vision systems as ways enhance the capabilities of unmanned aircraft. This includes progress in both theory and related flight test validation. The specific theoretical methods described include adaptive flight control using online trained neural networks, vision-based inertial navigation, and vision-based airborne target tracking. Specific results described will include flight of airplanes and helicopters substantial simulated faults (including loss of major components), vision-aided inertial navigation for helicopters, and helicopter operations with a slung load.
