AbstractThis presentation provides an overview of Draper’s latest accomplishments in the area of GN&C Rendezvous and Proximity Operations. From the Apollo era, Draper has taken part in all the space programs requiring Approach, Rendezvous and Docking operations (AR&D). Draper contributions in AR&D include both hardware and software: it has developed a Fault Tolerant Flight Computer for the X-38 and the Orbital COTS vehicle, and a set of GN&C algorithms and software covering all AR&D mission flight phases. Thanks to its recent contributions to the on-board autonomous mission planner and the guidance for XSS-11, and to the Mission Manager for Orbital Express, which is based on Draper’s Timeliner technology, Draper, at present, is the prime subcontractor for the Orbital COTS Cygnus vehicle Fault Tolerant Computer, the GN&C algorithm and the flight software for ISS integrated Operations. In addition Draper plays a key role in the development of the Orion rendezvous guidance and GN&C Mission Manager. This presentation will provide an insight into Draper approach to Rendezvous and Proximity operations, will describe the overall GN&C system development process, and illustrate the Model Based Design approach employed in the development of the GN&C Flight Software.
