AbstractThere is a need to provide predictable aircraft responses to help pilots avoid excursions outside of flight envelope as determined by wind tunnel data. This project investigated an integrated architecture for loss-of control prevention, based on consideration of a variety of control algorithm concepts that included mechanisms for disturbance rejection. The work included development of a flight envelope protection system based on linearized dynamics models. Pilot-in-the-loop simulation was also performed to address skill patterns, to determine pilot responses to microburst effects, and to evaluate human-automation interface interactions.
