AbstractRobert Heffley Engineering ACGSC Meeting 115 General Session Abstract

Recent RHE projects include:
• Upgrade to Boeing Training Systems with additional RotorGen2 helicopter math models with capability for hover position hold pilot model functions, ground taxi, and landing on a moving deck.
• Support to STI for shipboard environment simulation with ship motion and turbulence disturbances and customized hover flight control system for approach and landing.
• Continuation of in-house development of RHE Simulation Software Suite with integrated RotorGen2, Simulink, and FlightGear engineering applications.
Boeing support has included two Boeing training simulation programs, NetForce and BigTac. The full complement of helicopter math models include AH-1, UH-1, UH-60, CH-47, CH-53, MD500, Bo105, and S-64. Additional RotorGen2 features include position command/hold pilot model functions, pilot model ground taxi function, and capability for landing on a moving deck.
STI support includes a Simulink/FlightGear simulation platform that includes FCS, interactive MH-60/DDG, ship motion model, turbulence model, data collection, joystick/cockpit interface, and supply of simulation states to a HUD.
The RHE Simulation Software Suite provides a comprehensive environment for engineering applications that enables simulation of the whole or parts of the Task-Pilot-Vehicle system. This set of integrated functions includes the RotorGen2 flight dynamics model structure, a Simulink platform, and FlightGear visualization. RotorGen2 flight dynamics models will continue to be developed for fixed-wing, tilt-rotor, autogyro, and several kinds of propulsion systems. The notable feature of RotorGen2 model structure is that it is based on a minimal-parameter analytic-function form that supports all models.
RHE will introduce shortly a demonstration version of the Software Suite, available to all ACGSC members. If interested, please supply contact information to Bob Heffley at bob@rhef.net .
