AbstractThis presentation gives some insight on the performed simulator tests in the research project DinAFlex, which was a joint effort of the German Aerospace Center’s Institute of Flight Systems (DLR FT) and Embraer S.A. In the project, flexible aircraft models were identified from flight test data first. The resulting models were integrated into the research simulators Esim (Embraer, fixed base) and AVES (DLR FT, motion base) together with all necessary adaptions for performing handling qualities assessments like synthetic pilot tasks, inertial measurement of platform accelerations (AVES), and data and video recording. The focus of the experiments was on identifying the impact of vibrations stemming from the flexible modes on the handling qualities of the modelled aircraft. Simulator experiments for HQ assessment were performed with Embraer test pilots both at Embraer and DLR. The presentation focuses on the preparation and execution of the DinAFlex experiments that were performed in DLR’s AVES simulator and concludes with some selected preliminary results.
